About Me

Hi, I’m Kate Fernandes — a Sydney-based artist, mum of two, and lover of all things colourful, cheerful, and a little bit whimsical.
I paint vibrant still lifes, florals, and playful pieces for kids — all designed to bring a little more joy, warmth, and personality into your home (or workspace!). Whether it's a bunch of happy blooms or a quirky little animal, my art is all about sparking light-heartedness and connection.
Art has always been in my bones. I was that kid who was always drawing, and I still remember the thrill of being pre-selected for Art Express in high school — that was a big “aha” moment for me. I went on to study Fine Arts and Education at the University of Newcastle and later dived deeper into Illustration and Drawing with the Open College of Art and Design. Along the way, I exhibited at Watt Space Gallery and soaked up every creative opportunity I could.
Since then, I’ve been lucky to have my work featured in Artist Closeup Magazine and The Torch, and selected as a finalist in the Revival Emerging Artist Art Prize. You might’ve seen my pieces at The Hanoi Shuffle in Rozelle or at local shows like Breakfast Point and Drummoyne.
My inspiration comes from the simple beauty of everyday life — fresh flowers, favourite mugs, animal friends, sun-drenched moments. Painting brings me so much joy, and I hope that feeling pours into every piece I make. I want my art to feel like a friendly hug — something that brightens your day, makes you smile, and feels a bit like home.
